Indians and Trojans battle for sub-region supremacy
By Jeff Hart and John DuPont
MURRAYVILLE - The North Hall Trojans continue their quest for an undefeated season Friday, hosting the Lumpkin County Indians in the Majic 1029 high school football game of the week.
Judd Hickinbotham and Gordon Higgins have the play-by-play of Friday’s broadcast, with kickoff at 7:30 p.m. The pre-game show, featuring Joel Williams and Clausen, airs at 7 o’clock.
AccessNorthGa.com breaks down Friday’s match-up:
Lumpkin: 5-2, 2-0 in Region 7A-AAA, beat East Hall 48-6 last week
North Hall: 7-0, 2-0 in Region 7A- | | | | "North Hall is obviously the epitome of our region right now." | | | Lumpkin Co. Coach Tommy Jones | | | AAA, beat Gilmer 68-6 last week
Last meeting: 2006, North Hall won 53-0 in Dahlonega (North Hall leads series 13-6)
NOTES: Last year's game was the first between the two schools since 1985 with the Trojans having won the last four games in the series. Lumpkin's last win against North Hall came in 1982, when the Indians won 14-7.
This game is huge for both teams, with the winner having the inside track to the sub-region title. Both also still have Chestatee left on the schedule, which makes this game even more important with the loser in danger of not making the playoffs.
Last week's 68 points by the Trojans was the most in school history, dating records back to the 1957 season. North Hall is averaging a ridiculous 46 points per game this season, with five straight games of 40 or more.
Lumpkin has won three straight for the first time since the 2003 season, when the Indians went to the Class AA playoffs. They have allowed just 23 total points during the win streak, but will surely be tested against the potent Trojans offense.
