Ready or not, here comes the start of basketball season. While we still have two weeks left in high school football’s regular season, area basketball teams have begun practice, and Thursday marks the opening of tournament action in Northeast Georgia.
HCS
Gainesville’s win over Johnson High is this week’s game of the week on Hall County Sports Television. The Red Elephants avenged last year’s 2-point loss to the Knights with a decisive win at Billy Ellis Memorial Stadium last Friday night.
North Hall Spartans
North Cobb displaced North Gwinnett this week as the top team in Class AAAAA football. Habersham Central moved up a notch to #8 in AAAA. North Hall checks in at #3 this week in AAA, while Buford remains #1 in AA.
Ashley Razey
To say that Ashley Razey was an integral part of the most successful fast-pitch softball team in Buford High School history is an understatement. The senior slugger shattered five single-season hitting records while helping lead the Lady Wolves to the 2007 State AA Championship.
Tyler Adetona
Gainesville star receiver Tyler Adetona has committed to play next season for Troy University, according to Rivals.com.
North Hall Middle School CC Team
The North Hall Middle School boys and girls cross country teams competed at 2nd annual middle school state championship in Cochran, Georgia this past weekend.

The Lakeview Lady Lions were defeated Saturday by Savannah Christian, moving them out of the Class A/AA State Volleyball Tournament. Lakeview ends the 2007 season at 20-13 overall and 8-3 in region play.

The North Hall Lady Trojans defeated Jordan, but were unable to move past Westminster in the 7-AAA playoffs. West Hall and Flowery Branch were also eliminated from playoff contention.

Tyler King
After last week's 56-0 shut out of Walker, Buford came right back with another shut out of Cross Keys 58-0 Friday night. The Wolves (9-0) take a week off before traveling to Lovett in two week's in a showdown for the Region 6A-AA title.
